Frequently asked questions: Private Banking

What is private banking?

Private banking is a bank's service for wealthy clients: investment advice or asset management, financing such as mortgages and Lombard loans, plus accounts and payments from a single source, with a dedicated personal contact.

What is the difference between a private bank and an independent asset manager?

A bank holds the assets itself, grants loans and offers its own products. An independent asset manager manages your assets at a custodian bank of your choice and is not tied to any bank. Both need authorisation from FINMA.

What level of assets do I need for private banking?

Each bank sets its own threshold: many private banks serve clients from around one million francs, some cantonal banks from lower amounts. With the «Your investable assets» filter, you see which banks match your assets.
